A bit about us...

We’re a creative and passionate team, helping people every day with printing and signage solutions from business cards to billboards. We started as a side-hustle in a student flat, offering last minute printing to architecture and design students. We’ve grown steadily over the past 14 years, and we now offer some of the best and broadest print and signage production capabilities in the market. We’ve even got 15 x Pride in Print gold medals to prove it.

From our production hub in Wellington and remote offices in Tauranga, we cater to a wide range of clientele: design agencies, small businesses, retail & hospitality, artists & photographers, government departments, local & international brands, and events from baby showers to stadium tours. We work hard to bring your ideas to life using a wide range of equipment that includes digital presses, UV flatbeds, latex, aqueous and eco-solvent wide format printers, plus all the associated finishing gear such as digital cutting and application tables.

We take pride in our work, and we strive to exceed expectations. Most of all, we keep the process simple. No hassles, no headaches. Printing without the fine print.

The Big Picture was founded in 2008 in a student flat in Aro Valley, just two young guys with a printer in the wardrobe, catering to Wellington’s architecture and design students.

We made it official in 2009, with our first “commercial premises”, in a (barely) refurbished laundromat, also on Aro Street. We quickly outgrew that space, and moved on to Victoria St in 2011, then finally to Fifeshire Ave in 2016. And just quietly, we’re bulging at the seams again…

Over that time we’ve grown from an after-hours side-hustle to one of Wellington’s leading print & signage companies. We’re proud to work alongside iconic local brands, and we love being part of Wellington’s buzzing creative community. Ya can’t beat it on a good day…

Tauranga, our remote office.

When one of our founders moved to Tauranga in 2016, we opened a fully-equipped branch in the beautiful Mount Maunganui (Let’s be honest, most days it’s got Welly beat).

Over six years, we established ourselves as strong players in the Bay of Plenty print and signage industry, catering to a wide range of local and national businesses, as well as some of New Zealand’s largest events.

In 2022, in response to a changing market, we decided to wind down our bricks and mortar store in Tauranga and consolidate all print production back into the Wellington branch. Some of our team now remain in Tauranga and will continue to work remotely. We continue to offer all products and services to the Bay of Plenty and NZ as per usual, they’re just dispatched from our production hub in Wellington.
